SOW IN TEARS: REAPING JOY

BIBLE READING : PSALM 127 : 1 – 5

Nobody can fully savour the joy of victory, if he has not tasted the agony of defeat, nor truly appreciate the delight of success if he has never known the frustration of failure. What is it that Israel could not hide in verse 1 – 2? Why do you think that the nations bore the testimony of verse 2 ? verse 1 and 5 give us a historical perspective of this psalm. The children of Israel who had been deported to Babylon were restored to their land by the decree of king Cyrus (Ezra 1 : 1 –4). They retuned to find their lands a ravaged wilderness. Now they start to farm that land a fresh. That is the reason for the tears of V 5 and 6. Thankfully, the tears are not the end of the story, just as sowing is not the end of farming. There is always a time of harvest when we reap from what we have sown.

Prayer: Teach me Lord to faithfully sow the seed of your word no matter the cost.
