Bible Reading : James 3:1-12

Exhortation:

Theme: “Controlling the Tongue.”

What you say and what you don't say are both important. It is equally important controlling your desire to say what you should no. Examples of wrongly using the tongue include gossiping, putting others down, bragging, false manipulating, teaching, exaggerating complaining, flattering and lying.

Before you speak, ask, is what I want to say true? Is the necessary? Is it kind? James compares the damage the tongue can do to a ranging fire – the tongue's wickedness has its source in hell itself. The uncontrolled tongue can do terrible damage.

We dare not be careless with our words, thinking we can apologize later, for even if we do, the scars remain. A few words spoken in anger can destroy a relationship that took years to build. The Holy Spirit will power to monitor and control what we say.

PRAYER: “O, Most gracious Lord, let no corrupt word proceed out of my mouth, D beseech Thee.”
