Exhortation:

Theme: “The race is not to the swift.”

Paul gave up everything –family, friendship and political freedom, in order to know Christ and His resurrection power, but we may have to make sacrifices to enjoy it fully. What are you willing to give up in order to know Christ? A few minutes each day for prayer and Bible study?

Paul said his goal was to know Christ, to be like Christ and to be all Christ had in mind or him. We too should not let anything take our eyes off Christ our goal.

A person's relationship with Christ is more important than anything else. To know Christ should be our ultimate goal. Do you place anything above your relationship with Christ?

We should forsake anything that may distract us from being effective Christians. We have all done things for which we are ashamed in the past because our hope is in Christ, however, we can let go of past guilt and look forward to what Christ will let us be come. Don't dwell on your past. Realize you are forgiven, and then move on to a life of faith and obedience.

PRAYER:

“Father, I depend solely on you for spiritual maturity; help me o LORD.”
